Fig Tree Allied Health is a mobile occupational therapy practice servicing Brisbane Metro area and southside, offering telehealth services Australia wide, home visits or sessions at an alternative, convenient location. In person sessions are offered for clients residing in Brisbane Metro or the greater Brisbane southside region.
Jo is a warm, empathic and experienced occupational therapist, graduating from The University of Queensland in 2008 with a Masters of Occupational Therapy Studies, and an undergraduate Bachelor of Arts (Psychology) in 2005.
Jo brings a wealth of experience to each of her clients, having worked as an advanced and supervisory mental health occupational therapist for over 18 years in both the public sector with Queensland Health, and abroad in private practice in the United Kingdom.
Jo is the Owner/Director of Fig Tree Allied Health and is also employed as an Advanced Occupational Therapist with Metro North Hospital & Health Service. She conducts comprehensive assessments and prepares NDIS funding applications for long stay inpatients of the public mental health service with complex needs, and is responsible for securing high-level funding packages to support their safe discharge after extended hospital admissions.
To date, Jo’s career has encompassed psychosocial rehabilitation and therapy for people living with neurodivergence, psychotic illnesses, anxiety, depression and brain injury. Jo has extensive experience delivering individual and group based therapies for personality disorders, sensory modulation assessment and intervention, and assessment of housing needs and rehabilitative support for clients to transition into new living environments.
Jo is a passionate advocate for her clients and enjoys working collaboratively with them towards a life in which they can participate in all meaningful activities and enhance overall well being. Jo enjoys developing a therapeutic relationship with her clients, in combination with providing the most current, evidence-based practice.
Jo has presented at various conferences in relation to occupational therapy and psychosocial rehabilitation, including the National Occupational Therapy Australia conference.
